In early summer 2021, GrowN22 was commissioned by Haringey Learning Partnership to create a new garden on unused land next to the basketball court. The space was overgrown and the site had a lot of litter which needed to be removed.
Landscaping works started on the 12th August 2021 with a complete clearance of the site. Once the overgrowth was removed, an ongoing operation involving teams from Defra staff, London National Park City Initiative, Nextdoor EMEA and volunteers began to remove the pesky plastic contaminants!
Enhancements to the garden and grounds include: A brand new wildlife garden, a large T shaped planter was built on the main lawn as a space for the students to experiment by growing different types of edibles. New flowerbed's were created by de-turfing sections of the lawn along with lawn art, composting bays, tree mulching circles and lot's of new planting!
As weeks and months passed; the main garden has had over 30 tonnes of soil media including bark, compost, grit, fine horse manure and root zone add to the landscape.
As of March 2022, the garden is complete and open!
