#GrowN22 started as an idea between Hugh and Duke, and quickly grew into a community space management organisation with a mission to make Haringey, greener!
Duke has supported the London National Park City Initiative since January 2017.
Duke won 'Best Upcycled Sideboard' at the London Upcycling Show Groundwork / Wise Up To Waste competition 2017 and more recently the Nextdoor; Good Neighbour Award 2018 for his work at the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve.
Hugh has a background in community and participatory arts and building maintenance and refurbishment. He brings practical know-how and a dash of creative flair to the team.
He's always been interested in gardening and growing and sustainable living. He was involved with Transition Cambridge between 2010 and 2016, particularly the community supported agriculture project Cambridge Cropshare.
Hugh met Luke through his project to create a garden in part of the car park at Green Rooms Hotel. He was wowed by Luke's charisma and infectious passion for gardening and growing and the two decided to join forces and came up with GrowN22.
Roisin a local resident and volunteer at the nature reserve. Working as U.K. Community Manger for Nextdoor, she is passionate about community action, green projects and preserving the planet. Roisin has no prior gardening experience but loves learning new skills and being out in nature. She’s excited to see how N22 will be transformed by a little people power.
Revitalizing a former nature reserve is a unique and rewarding experience. On a typical volunteering session, we get things done, meet people and learn gardening tricks in a fun atmosphere. On top of that, the team is skilled and friendly, I've enjoyed it every time!
